Bookshelf 2016

Like many things in life, such as a daily workout, if you don't focus on it, it will get left out.  So this post is really for my own accountability to continue to have a list (or pile) of books to read and to actually read them.  Personally, when I find a book I want to read, I usually go ahead and get it and add it to my books to read pile, my antilibrary (books in my library that I haven't read).  That way I just move to the next one.

My Field Notes Notebook Collection Fall 2015 & New Edition Suggestion

With the release of the new Field Notes Winter 2015 Snowblind Edition, I decided to get all my Field Notes together and do an updated collection picture.

I have also included my humble suggestion for a new edition at the end.

What started out as a goal to always have a notebook on or near me has turned into a rather large collection.

I started buying Field Notes because I loved the idea behind their product and to support an American small business. As they continue to make new editions every quarter, I end up buying every new release because they continue to surprise me.

DIY Machete Handle Upgrade

One way to save money and still have quality gear is to upgrade less expensive items yourself so they look and perform better.

I have a couple knife blanks I have been wanting to put handles on so I decided to test out technique on an old machete I have but never really used. 

I've had this machete for years but never really done anything with it. It has a two part plastic handle and the cutting edge came with a dull edge covered with paint, maybe for safety during shipping.

9/11 Memorial GORUCK

A little late but everyone had a great time with lots of "good living" at the GORUCK 9/11 Memorial event in Dallas.  My 2nd event and first Light has jump started me back into rucking.

My newest hobby that has developed as I have gotten into doing GORUCK events over the last few years is a patch collection.

a Memphis Collector - Stamp Collection

Thanks to a post on The Art Of Manliness, I remembered and pulled out a stamp collection that has been handed down from my grandfather. Below will be pictures if the stamps as I sort them.  Any knowledge about the stamps posted would be greatly appreciated, history, rarity, etc.

He had them shipped in this box from our cousins in Michigan. I don't know the year.  I believe the cardboard box was added along the way.
